Having already written about “Chapter 9”, one of the recently opened restaurants at Jhamsikhel two weeks back, I was wondering which new outlet to look for, for this week’s retrowatch. I have to say there are no regrets I chose “The Vesper Café.”
A dream come true project of two buddies – Gagan Kunwar and Chabin Shrestha, The Vesper Café is all about wholesome of Mexican and continental goodies amidst the cozy homely atmosphere in a neo-classic décor. Just six months old, The Vesper Café comes as a fresh bouquet of cuisines where the same things that we try at other eateries are prepared uniquely delicious. It was a wowing experience of good food and apt portion for any delicacy.

Despite both the owners representing the young generation, Kunwar and Shrestha need a special mention for the effort they have put to interior and exteriors of the restaurant.
A traditional Nepali modern house, more than 50 years old, made from red clay and dark brick, stands tall, an ankhi-jhyaal starring down a stretched fire-wood garden that leads you to the bar and inside to a hipster lounge.

Head chef Chatra Bahadur Thapa excels in his skill of preparing Mexican cuisines and he is equally a master in guiding his staffs at the Continental corner. His secret ingredients like hot paprika, sweet paprika, wine vinegar and tarragon makes the Mexican and continental food come out authentically yummy.
For a proper main course, what you should not miss are Mutton Rogan Josh Veg Kadai, Chicken Handiu and Fish Chantiwala, all Indian. On a lighter side, you should rather not be there if you are not trying their firewood pizza. I would not exaggerate if I add that Vesper’s pizzas are the finest around that area. Baked under the firewood chimney constructed with imported bricks specially designed for pizzerias, their sumptuous combine ingredients like salmon, jalapeno, tuna fish, pesto, etc to give it a slightly different tinge.
Pot Au Few Soup (beef clear soup with green pepper corn and diced vegetables) and Vietnamese Noodle Soup are something new in the menu for those who want to experiment with new taste.

The seating arrangement go hand in hand with the choice of foods, meaning if you’re on a rush and just want to try some easy snacks, you can get your bites in the garden. You can opt for a hippie lounge if you are in for long hour conversations with friends and family alongside the scrumptious appetizers and heavy main courses.
Stretched to 1.45 ropani of land, this new foodie joint may seem a bit expensive than other eateries around. But the whole bargaining comes to compensate as you start to munch your desired delicacies. You will not regret.
