This modern day Houdini partners a security firm that specializes in maximum prison security, thus keeping the prisons escape-free. In one such escapade, Breslin is commissioned to test a jail which is said to be flawlessly airtight. Breslin thinks this should be a regular hack, but when he gets inside this facility, it becomes obvious that there are some foul plays and he’s in the middle of a giant setup. [break]
Now with some interior help from fellow inmate Emil Rottmayer (Schwarzenegger) and his jailbreak skills, Breslin sets out to accomplish the toughest mission of his career.
For a 90s kid, how cool would it be to see John Rambo paired up with the Terminator. Escape Plan somewhat fulfills that crave of every action film fanatic to see legends Sylvester Stallone and Arnold Schwarzenegger in a high octane thriller where their mission is to break from the most secure prison ever built.
Yes, the plot is of escapist proportions and we get to see astonishing action sequences but at the end Escape Plan is a engaging and well executed.
The film is Hollywood’s style of a masala entertainer. It flows in a template trail and is solely plot driven. The writing is smart and well researched; we get enough action and enough emotion to feel the mood pump. Stallone and Schwarzenegger provide funny banters and are effortless even in their wrinkly and robust physiques.
Escape Plan just accomplishes to become an out and out action thriller that delights you till the end. And if you’ve been a lifelong John Rambo or the Terminator devotee, you can’t afford to miss this.
