Notice about exam to be published on February 4

KATHMANDU, Jan 16: The Employment Permit System (EPS) language test, for those applying to work in Korea’s manufacturing sector through EPS, is going to be slightly delayed. Earlier, the exam which was scheduled to be held from January 20 is now postponed due to technical problems in the online system. Preparations are being made to issue the notice regarding the exam on February 4.

Dandu Raj Ghimire, director general of the Department of Foreign Employment (DoFE), during discussions with HRD Korea officials, said that the previous schedule was to conduct the exam from January 20. However, Director General Ghimire said that due to the challenges in the online system for filling the application form and keeping records of the applicants' examination, the examination will be delayed.

“The computer system of the HRD office had only 5 digits structure before. It has been restructured to 6 digits. Now, it seems that it will take some time to send the details of 164,000 applicants to Korea. They have given time to issue the notice on February 4,” said Director General Ghimire.

Earlier, thousands of applications were received. However, this time there are hundreds of thousands applications. After many applications, the online system had to be upgraded. As a result, the examination is going to be delayed, Director General Ghimire said.

The EPS language test will be conducted in three phases. HRD Korea has prepared to conduct the language test in three phases due to a large number of applications.

In the first phase, the examination will be conducted for 47,000 applicants. In the same way, a schedule has been made for conducting the examination of 164,716 applicants in the second phase, and the examination of 80,000 and the remaining 37,000 applicants in the third phase.

For the manufacturing sector, Korea invited applications for an estimated 15,848 individuals for which 164,716 people applied, including applicants for the shipbuilding sector in which 143,812 individuals applied for the first time.
