EPL T20 gets ICC's approval

KATHMANDU, Nov 16: The Everest Premier League (EPL) has finally obtained permission from the International Cricket Council (ICC). 


The second edition of EPL T-20 is going to be held in Kathmandu from December 8-22 this year. 

In a press statement released by the EPL's Managing Director Aamir Akhtar today, it is shared that EPL had paid sanctioning fee worth USD 20,000 to ICC for the same. 


"Keeping in mind the current scenario of the country, the ICC has granted approval to the EPL. The League is in the best interest of the Nepali cricket sector and Nepali players," said Managing Director Akhtar in the statement.

Preparation for EPL 


Since the Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) has been suspended by ICC, any cricket related tournament to be held in the country needs approval from the cricket governing body worldwide-ICC. 


With EPL obtaining the approval from ICC, the domestic teams vying in the tournament can hire foreign cricket players. 


The first edition of EPL was held in Kathmandu last year. This edition, altogether six teams from six different cities in the country will vie in the match. 


The team contesting in the EPL T-20 are Biratnagar Warriors, Bhairahawa Gladiators, Kathmandu Kings 11, Lalitpur Patriots, Chitwan Tigers and Pokhara Rhinos, according to the organizer.
