Envisioning a Greener Kathmandu

A program was held in the premises of Nepal College of Development Studies (NCDS) to initiate ‘GO-Green’ campaign this Saturday. The program was organized by NCDS and was supported by Kathmandu Metropolitan City, Ward Number 32.

A program was held in the premises of Nepal College of Development Studies (NCDS) to initiate ‘GO-Green’ campaign this Saturday. The program was organized by NCDS and was supported by Kathmandu Metropolitan City, Ward Number 32.  


Locals, college staffs, and students participated in the event to raise awareness against the increasing pollution levels in the Kathmandu valley, states the press statement issued by NCDS.  Chief Guest, Mahendra Bahadur Pandey --former Ministry of Foreign Affairs -- inaugurated the campaign by watering and planting trees in the NCDS premises.

The press statement quoted Pandey saying, “I’m very pleased that the college has initiated such a wonderful program in response to the increasing pollution of Kathmandu. These kinds of programs should be commenced often to address the current level of pollution.”


The press statement further added that the program focused on College with Community (CWC) module where Social Work students play role in reforming the society by increasing awareness by executing programs for the betterment of the community. 


The program also inducted ‘A-tree-a-house’ campaign where dozens of plants were distributed, along with compost manure to the inhabitants of Sahayoginagar and its surrounding places.
