KATHMANDU, July 13: Minister for Women, Children and Senior Citizens Surendra Raj Acharya has said that there is no shortage of budget for the air rescue of pregnant and postpartum women in remote areas.
Speaking at the meeting of the National Assembly on Thursday, Minister Acharya said that there is no shortage of budget for air rescue of pregnant and post-natal women in remote areas.

He mentioned that in the next fiscal year, the effectiveness of the program will be revised and continued. He said that the ministry has so far rescued 536 people by air. Minister Acharya also said that the work of developing the Ministry of Women, Children and Senior Citizens as a disability-friendly model ministry is progressing.
He said, “Until now, 536 pregnant and postpartum women whose lives were at risk in remote areas have been rescued by air and assisted in saving the lives of women. There is a plan to study the effectiveness of the program in the next fiscal year and further modify the project and continue it. I would like to inform you that there is no shortage of budget for this program. The work of developing the Ministry of Women, Children and Senior Citizens as a disability-friendly model ministry is progressing. There is an inter-ministerial integrated monitoring program to conduct an inter-ministerial coordination program to make the coordination and cooperation of the union, provincial and local governments effective and to monitor the effectiveness of the programs run by the ministry and the conditional grants.”
He also said that the effectiveness of conditional grants given by the ministry will be monitored.
