Emergency operation center in offing

KATHMANDU, Dec 31: Nepal is soon going to have a separate National Emergency Operation Center (NEOC) that will deal with disaster prevention and relief works.



The NEOC being constructed on the premises of Home Ministry with financial assistance from the Australian government and technical assistance from the UNDP will collect, process and disseminate information related to disasters in the country.



The body will coordinate with national and international organizations to carry out works related to disaster risk reduction and relief operation.



Home Minister Bhim Rawal laid foundation stone of the NEOC building, amidst a function held on Thursday. The NEOC building is being constructed at the cost of Rs 6.4 million.
