KATHMANDU, Sept 5: Electricity supply to Simikot, headquarter of the Humla district, has been disrupted due to problems at Hildum Distribution Center of the Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA).
According to the NEA, the electricity supply to the remote district headquarter has been suspended since Tuesday. The daily life of the general public has been affected due to the indefinite disruption of electricity service in the district headquarters, Simkot.
Electricity supply to be disrupted in Bharatpur for two days
Krishna Prasad Oli, information officer of the distribution center in Humla, the electricity service was disrupted after a problem was detected in the control system of Unit 9 of the power house. According to him, the problem cannot be solved immediately with the technical manpower available in Humla, so the repair will be possible only after the necessary materials and additional technical manpower arrive.
Although the materials and technicians have been notified, it is unclear how long the repair will take because they have not arrived yet. The NEA has issued a public notice stating the electricity service will be disrupted until further notice is issued.
Since the prolonged power outage has affected daily activities, the locals have demanded that alternative arrangements be made immediately and the electricity supply be brought into operation. In addition, they demand that a long-term solution be found to the frequent power problems in Humla.
