KATHMANDU, Aug 23: The Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) reported a 9.64 percent increase in electricity sales to households in Fiscal Year (FY) 2025/26, with consumption reaching more than 12.376 billion units.
According to NEA’s annual report, the authority had sold 11.288 billion units in the previous fiscal year. The number of electricity consumers also grew by 3.32 percent, climbing to over 6.383 million from 6.178 million — an addition of 205,163 users within a year.

Of the total users, 5.927 million are supplied directly by NEA, while 456,476 households receive electricity through community and rural electrification programs. Over the past six years, the consumer base has expanded significantly, rising from 4.528 million to 6.383 million.
Per capita electricity sales by NEA rose 5.98 percent during the review period, increasing from 394.69 units to 418.31 units. This reflects an additional 23.62 units of consumption per person in FY 2025/26.
