Dahal said that the election date will be announced within the next two days by taking consent of the dissident political groups, including CPN-Maoist.[break]
“We were for holding the election in summer. But we suggested to the government to conduct polls by mid-November because the possibility of summer polls is now very slim,” Dahal told media persons in Baglung on Wednesday. Dahal said that he offered the suggestions to Chairman of the election government Khil Raj Regmi at a function organized by the Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industries on Wednesday morning.
According to Dahal, Regmi told him that polls had to be deferred as the “election commission cited technical complications to conduct polls in June”.
Dahal had earlier this week said that elections must be held by June and that it wasn´t acceptable for his party if polls were deferred for November.
The Maoist chairman also urged the Mohan Baidya-led CPN-Maoist and Madhesi People´s Rights Forum to participate in election and to not create any hindrance. He also urged them to join the High Level Political Committee (HLPC).

Currently, leaders from UCPN (Maoist), Nepali Congress (NC), CPN-UML and United Democratic Madhesi Front (UDMF) are members of the committee. “There is no alternative to election. In the past, the four parties inked a political agreement to end the deadlock,” said Dahal. “Now I urge Baidyaji and Upendraji to join the High Level Political Committee.”
He said that it was necessary to incorporate political sections that aren´t included in the HLPC because only the four political forces can´t represent all sections of the society. “We are ready to include all the sides,” he maintained.
Dahal said that since the election has been deferred a commission must be formed for constituency delineation. He also claimed that his party would secure two-thirds majority in the coming election. He said his party´s plan to attract more people from Madhesi, ethnic and indigenous communities would make that possible.
In a different context, he urged party cadres to mend their ways and involve themselves in productive works and not in destructive activities. “It is high time that we correct ourselves. It is time for us to concentrate our energies on productive works,” he said.
Dahal arrived in Baglung to participate in the party´s orientation program. Around 600 party members from various districts including Baglung, Myagdi, Rolpa, Rukum, Salyan, Arghakhanchi and Pyuthan had gathered for the program.
