Elderly woman who died in Makhan Tole fire identified

Authorities have identified the elderly woman who died in the fire behind Suraj Arcade in Makhan Tole, Kathmandu Metropolitan City-24 today.

KATHMANDU, May 14: Authorities have identified the elderly woman who died in the fire behind Suraj Arcade in Makhan Tole, Kathmandu Metropolitan City-24 today.


Superintendent of Police Apil Raj Bohora, also the spokesperson for the Kathmandu District Police Range, confirmed that 80-year-old Bishnu Adhikari from Kavrepalanchowk lost her life in the accident.

A gas leak sparked a fire this morning in the mud and wood-built house of Dayaram Shrestha, which spread to the nearby five-story concrete house of Rukesh Shrestha. Firefighters fully controlled the blaze by 10 am.


Bohora said that it took nearly three hours to control the fire, with teams from the Nepali Army, Nepal Police, and Armed Police Force responding. Six fire trucks, including two from Juddha Barun, one from the Nepali Army, one from Lalitpur Metropolitan City, one from Ramhiti, and one from the Balaju Industrial Area, helped bring the fire under control.
