KATHMANDU, April 21: Despite criticisms from various quarters of the hike in school fees, Chairman of Private and Boarding Schools' Organization, Nepal (PABSON) Lakshya Bahadur KC claimed that the private schools are providing education at lower cost compared to community schools.

Accusing community schools of bringing zero results despite investment of millions of rupees, KC emphasized the need for public private partnership (PPP) model in the education sector.

In an interview with Republica Associate Editor Bimal Gautam on Nagarik Show, KC claimed that private schools have produced good results at a time when community schools have failed to do so.

"I have invested all my earnings in a private school. However, I am not satisfied with the results," said KC. There are only a few schools in the country that have succeeded in recovering investments, according to him.

Agitating students' unions are scheduled to padlock the account section of private schools to protest the recent hike in tuition fees by private schools, he added.

"The recent 18 percent increase in salary by the government will adversely affect the private schools. So, we decided to hike our tuition fees," he said. He also claimed that the private schools are paying billions of rupees in tax to the government. To watch Nagarik Show, please visit www.nagariknews.com/nagarikshow
