KATHMANDU, Aug 9: The Ministry of Education, Science and Technology (MoEST) has issued a call for applications for the post of the Chairman of the Service Commission in Tribhuvan University (TU), which has remained vacant for a year. The committee formed to recommend the right candidate to the post has invited the interested persons who have worked at least in the post of associate professor to submit their applications with personal details by August 11.

The former Commission Chairman Lalu Prasad Yadav's tenure ended on August 3, 2022, and the work of the TU Service Commission was affected when the position became vacant. Although a notice was published on September 3, 2022 for the said post and a 'shortlist' was prepared, the process was canceled and a new notice has been published again.

Vice-chancellor’s tenure to end after three months

Meanwhile, Prime Minister and Chancellor Pushpa Kamal Dahal has been requested to select a new Vice Chancellor before the position of Vice Chancellor of TU becomes vacant. The tenure of the current Vice-Chancellor Dr Dharma Kant Baskota is said to end on November 3.

Vice-Chancellor Baskota informed the Prime Minister on August 1, saying that he has only three months left of his tenure.
