EC to receive fine amount on Saturday as well

KATHMANDU, Oct 22: The candidates included in the closed list of Proportional Representation (PR) election system for upcoming elections to the member of House of Representatives and Province Assembly are allowed to pay the penalized amount, if any, on public holiday as well.

KATHMANDU, Oct 22: The candidates included in the closed list of Proportional Representation (PR) election system for upcoming elections to the member of House of Representatives and Province Assembly are allowed to pay the penalized amount, if any, on public holiday as well. 


The Election Commission (EC) has allowed the closed-list candidates who were also in local election fray and have not furnished poll spending details to do so by Saturday.

According to the earlier decision of the EC in line with the Clause 26 of the EC Act, 2073 BS, if the candidates earlier penalized for not furnishing spending details are included in the close list submitted by the political parties under the PR electoral system of November 20 elections, they can furnish their expenditure details by October 22 office time. 


As Saturday is the deadline to examine the applications of the candidates whether the fines have been settled, it can be considered clearance if they pay the penalized amount on the stipulated day, the EC sources said. 


Arrangement has been made for the concerned candidates to pay the penalized amount at the province and district election offices within the stipulated date and time, the EC sources said. 


Spokesperson of EC's PR System Guru Prasad Wagle warned that the candidates who fail to settle the penalized amount within the given deadline would be removed from the closed list.
