NC meeting: Let's end factions and sub-factions in party
The rival factions of the party led by two chairmen KP Sharma Oli and Pushpa Kamal Dahal have already approached the EC, demanding their faction to be recognized as the authentic NCP. "After the investigation, we will make a decision as per the Political Party Act at the earliest," Shrestha said.
On Tuesday, the Oli-led faction filed application at the EC seeking its official recognition while the Dahal-lede faction reached there earlier today for the same.
The development comes after the ruling party suffered a split on Tuesday following the decision of the K P Oli-led government to dissolve parliament. President Bidya Devi Bhandari announced the dissolution of House of Representatives and midterm elections for April 30 and May 10 next year at the recommendation of the cabinet, on Sunday.
