Nepal Police headquarters on Monday instructed all the regional police offices to start accepting applications. “We will accept the applications for two weeks and then shortlist the candidates as per necessity,” said Nepal Police Spokesperson DIG Nawaraj Silwal.[break]
According to the police, the applications would be accepted through the district police offices. However, selection of candidates would be made at the regional level. A selection committee headed by regional administrator with Chief District Officers as members would finalize the candidates. High priority would be accorded to retired personnel from Nepal Army, Nepal Police and Armed Police Force (APF).
But in case we don´t get enough applications from retired personnel, we will select other competent candidates. The temporary police personnel will be hired for two months and will be provided with uniform, salary and ration on par with police constables. Temporary security personnel to be recruited under Nepal Police will be mobilized to carry out subsidiary roles such as assisting police personnel deputed for booth security.
DIG Upendra Kanta Aryal, chief of the Eastern Region Police, said applications are being distributed through police offices in 16 districts in the region. EC plans to deploy 10 temporary police personnel per polling booth and 300 to 1,000 temporary police in each district.
