EC doing homework to make election expense transparent: CEC Uprety

Kathmandu, June 20: Chief Election Commissioner Neel Kanth Uprety has said the Election Commission was doing homework to make the election expenses transparent and the election free and fair.[break]



CEC Uprety said this with the representatives of the National Commercial Initiative at his office on Thursday.



Initiative Chairman Padma Jyoti had furnished suggestions on how the political parties´ expenses in the Constituent Assembly election could be made transparent. He stressed that political parties accept only voluntary donation, follow international practice while taking donation, and strictly abide by the election code of conduct.



According to EC Spokesperson Bir Bahadur Rai, CEC Uprety reiterated that the EC was sensitive and serious to regulate the election expenses and make it transparent.
