Dutch girls set record 157-run target against Nepal

KATHMANDU, Jan 30: Nepal and the Netherlands took the field at the Tribhuvan University (TU) cricket ground in Kirtipur today in the first match of the women's T20I series involving Nepal, the Netherlands and Thailand.


Nepal won the toss and invited the Dutch women to bat. The Dutch batters put up a massive total, compelling the host side to make a record chase for victory.

The Dutch side set a 157 run target in 20 overs. Robin Rijke scored an unbeaten half-century for the Netherlands. She scored 59 runs off 48 balls with 8 fours. Similarly, Iris put up an impressive batting show, hitting 31 runs in just 13 balls.


For Nepal, Kabita Kunwar, Pooja Mahato, Sita Rana Magar and Ishwori Bista snatched one wicket each.


Meanwhile, wicketkeeper-batter Alisha Kumari Yadav and spinner Manisha Kumari Upadhyaya have made their Twenty20 International debut in the first match of the ongoing Women's Tri-Nation Twenty20 International series against the Netherlands.
