Drunken local beats on-duty officer in Rukum West

RUKUM WEST, Oct 15:  A local resident Chandra Khadka from Musikot municipality-10 has thrashed sub inspector Bhakta Bahadur Rawal, police said.

RUKUM WEST, Oct 15:  A local resident Chandra Khadka from Musikot municipality-10 has thrashed sub inspector Bhakta Bahadur Rawal, police said. 



Khadka, who also happens to be younger brother of the ward's member, Dhan Bahadur thrashed the on-duty officer in a sports competition in ward 9. According to the police, Chandra was under the influence of alcohol tore the duty officer's clothes and tried to steal his gun as well. Rawal has returned to duty after treatment at the District Hospital.

Following the incident, police have arrested Chandra and filed a case on Public Offence, DSP Sumit Khadka said. He added that they would not accept reconciliation as urged by local representatives. Police constables stationed at Julkhet said that after the attack, they themselves felt unsafe.


The DSP said that they would not file a case against any individual who are engaged in social crimes. He added that they had made special security plans to ensure safety and security during the Dashain and Tihar festival. To do so, the district will deploy police in patrols as well as civil dress. The District Police Office has also requested to minimize sale of alcohol. "After 9 PM, all shops must be closed," DSP Khadka said.
