According to Binod Pal, a local resident, the driver had put the vehicle on reverse gear and ran over the injured child, killing her on the spot.
Anjali Sada, daughter of Hemant Sada of Raghunathpur-9, was three years old. Sixty year old Rewati Sada, grandmother of the deceased, was critically injured in the accident. She was rushed to the Janakpur Hospital for treatment by the armed police in Raghunathpur. Another injured woman is being treated at the local health center.
Angry locals vandalized the vehicle after the incident. Around two dozen people were injured when the police charged batons to take the situation under control. The police have not released the name of the driver.
