Drinking water project completes at Bharatpur

CHITWAN, April 6: A drinking water project has been completed at a cost of Rs 90 million at Bharatpur Metropolitan City-29.

As many as 350 families have benefited from the completion of the project. The project was constructed at a cost of Rs 59.5 million of the federal government and provincial government and Rs 17.5 million of Bharatpur Metropolitan City.

Similarly, locals provided voluntary labor worth Rs 6.2 million for the construction of the drinking water project. The project was completed after five years. Locals of Lamidanda, Thamdanda, Lamagaun, Kamalpur, Dhungre, Chipleti, Aarubote and Satisdanda have benefited from this project.

Earlier, the locals had to walk around half-an-hour to fetch drinking water. Project Secretary Keshav Dhakal said an eight million liter capacity water collection tank has been constructed while another water tank of 200,000 liter capacity is at Thamdanda to distribute water.

With the construction of the drinking water project, the problem of drinking water shortage in the area of Bharatpur Metropolitan City, has ended, said Ward Chairperson Surya Bahadur Gurung.
