DRI files cases, seeks to recover Rs 447.38 million from two individuals accused of revenue leakage

KATHMANDU, Dec 5: The Department of Revenue Investigation (DRI) on Sunday filed cases against two individuals on charge of evading tax, seeking to recover Rs 447.38 million from the accused.  

According to the DRI, it filed cases against Pramod Kumar Gupta, proprietor of Kashaudhan Kawad Suppliers and Govinda Kumar Kashaudhan at the High Court of Tulsipur, Dang. The accused have been found purchasing goods in the name of other firms and doing transactions without keeping proper records.

These individuals have been charged with evading taxes amounting Rs 223.69 million that included Rs 63.14 million in the value added tax and Rs 160.54 million in income tax. The tax investigation authority has sought to recover an equal amount in penalty from the accused and a jail term of three years to them.
