KATHMANDU, June 8: The government has appointed Prof Dr Ramesh Prasad Singh as a Member of the National Planning Commission (NPC).
A cabinet meeting held on Thursday appointed Prof Dr Singh to the post, Minister for Communications and Information Technology Rekha Sharma said on Friday.
At a news conference organized at the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology to make the decisions of cabinet meeting public, Minister Sharma said that a decision has been made to publish a notice in Nepal Gazette, paving the way to receive certain public services even by using the National Identity Card.

The meeting also approved the India visit of Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal for his participation in the swearing-in ceremony of India's newly-appointed Prime Minister.
Likewise, the government decided to recall Nepal's ambassadors to India, the USA, the UK, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, South Korea, Malaysia, Spain, Portugal, Denmark and Israel, Minister Sharma shared.
Minister Sharma, who is also the government's spokesperson, further informed that Narendra Bhandari has been appointed the Chairman of Hetauda Cement Industry Limited and Padam Oli the General Manager of Industrial Estate Management Limited.
The cabinet meeting also approved a proposal of the Ministry of Industry, Commerce and Supplies on a bill formed to amend some Nepal Acts of Investment Facilitation to table in the Federal Parliament.
Furthermore, the cabinet decided to give approval in principle for the development of new headwork and additional structures of the Melamchi Drinking Water Project in an appropriate location of the upper belt.
According to Minister Sharma, Tej Bahadur Rai is appointed the Executive Director of the International Conference Centre under the Ministry of Urban Development.
