Dr KC’s health critical; he has refused to take medication

DHANGADI, Sept 16: The health condition of Dr Govinda KC, who has been on a hunger strike for the 20th time in Dhangadhi with a 7-point demand including improvement of medical education and health sector, is becoming complicated. Dr Amrit Jaishi said that compared to previous fasts, Dr KC's health condition started showing serious problems within a few days of fasting this time.

DHANGADI, Sept 16: The health condition of Dr Govinda KC, who has been on a hunger strike for the 20th time in Dhangadhi with a 7-point demand including improvement of medical education and health sector, is becoming complicated. Dr Amrit Jaishi said that compared to previous fasts, Dr KC's health condition started showing serious problems within a few days of fasting this time.


He was taken to the Seti Provincial Hospital by an ambulance last Wednesday evening after he developed health problems within three days of his Satyagraha (fast-unto-death) at the Dhangadhi Krishna Temple Dharamshala. Despite being taken to the hospital, Dr KC has refused to take any medication. The doctor said that Dr KC has joint pain, muscle pain, headache, tingling, fatigue, dizziness, breathing difficulty and chest pain.

It is mentioned in the medical bulletin published after the examination of Dr KC’s health by a medical team that the glucose level in his blood was very low, the blood pressure was very low, the heartbeat was disturbed, the breathing rate was increasing, the calcium phosphorus magnesium levels are low, and ketones were increasing in the urine. Dr Jaishi said that Dr KC’s weight is decreasing, the amount of nutrients and water is decreasing, and the complications are increasing.


Doctors have said that the imbalance of water and nutrients can lead to fainting, body tremors and damage to body parts. He said that meetings with Dr KC have been stopped. Although the situation is getting complicated, he has refused to take any medicine. Dr Jaishi said that Dr KC has said in writing that he should not be given medicines even if he gets unconscious.
