KATHMANDU, May 4: The Board of Trustees (BoT) of Nepal University has appointed the Vice-Chancellor and the registrar of the university.
According to the Nepal University Act, 2081 (2024 AD), based on the recommendation of the selection committee, senior physician and former Vice-Chancellor of the Patan Academy of Health Sciences, Dr Arjun Karki, has been appointed as the Vice-Chancellor. Likewise, public policy and infrastructure development expert Dr Surya Raj Acharya has been appointed as the registrar.
The selection committee had shortlisted qualified candidates from the applications received through a public notice and conducted presentations and interviews before making the recommendation.

The recommendation of the most suitable candidates was made through the same selection process. Earlier, the BoT had already appointed Dr Bindu Nath Lohani, former Vice President of the Asian Development Bank (ADB), as the first Chancellor of Nepal University.
According to the Nepal University Act, 2081 (2024 AD), the members of the BoT include Dr Ram Manohar Shrestha, Dr Shiva Thapa, Dr Jagadish Chandra Pokharel, Dr Bipin Adhikari, Dr Bimala Rai Paudyal, Laxmi Devi Pandey, Engineer Lal Krishna KC, Madhav Prasad Paudel, Rameshore Khanal, and Chandani Joshi.
