DPM Thapa urges UDMF to participate in local polls

BARDIYA, April 15: Deputy Prime Minister Kamal Thapa has urged the Madhesh based parties to participate in the upcoming local level polls.


 Speaking at the regional level mass meet, organized by Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) in Gulariya of the district on Saturday, DPM Thapa clarified that the government has not only changed the name of the municipality and the VDC, but also has arranged the three level of structure with power of rights including central, federal and local level.


He urged all people to participate in the local level election to exercise the rights provided by the state.

DPM Thapa asked the agitating Madhesh based parties to become flexible and to come to the point of agreement. He repeatedly requested the United Democratic Madheshi Front (UDMF) affiliated parties not to boycott the election or not to make unnecessary interference in the election activities citing that the country has resumed the democratic practice after a gap of almost two decades.


He said that the dialogue among the parties could solve the issue of the constitution amendment bill that has been registered in the Legislature-Parliament.


Stating that the UDMF could not be out-of-the-way from the election process, DPM Thapa said that the local level election will be conducted on stipulated date.


He claimed that government is committed to hold the local level election of May 14 and the preparation is going on full swing.


Various leaders of the party addressed the meeting and stressed on the importance of the local level election.
