NUWAKOT, April 5: Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Federal Affairs and Local Development, Kamal Thapa has said the implementation of the local level in consonance with the state restructuring was the biggest change so far.

DPM Thapa said this while giving directives to the chiefs of the government offices based in the district on Wedneday.

He said the state restructuring that has come into force along with most of the rights and designed to deliver the state services by transforming the local bodies into local level which had been in practice since seven decades is extraordinary and an epochal change.

Stating that the development would be unleashed in the country now that the constitution itself has specified the running of the governance system with legislative, executive and judicial rights by visualizing the local level as the local government, he described it as the milestone in the context of building new Nepal.

DPM Thapa expressed his confidence that the local level election that is being held for the implementation of the local level would take place on the stipulated date and directed the government employees to embrace it both politically and psychologically.

"Initially, there might be some confusion, ambiguity and contradictions regarding the election but it should be taken as a big opportunity and with significance. It needs to be institutionalized," he said.

On the occasion, the employees working at the local level in Nuwakot district had complained of facing problems in carrying out their works due to lack of physical infrastructure, banking and financial facilities and security arrangements. RSS
