KATHMANDU, Dec 24: Deputy Prime Minister and Home Minister Bijay Kumar Gachchhadar vowed to take stern action against those involved in attacking journalists at Nepali Republic Media newsroom. 13 assailants who posed themselves as Shiva Sena cadres have been arrested.

“I have heard some groups are exerting pressure on Kathmandu Chief District Officer (CDO) to release the assailants. I assure you that pressure tactics will not work to those who entered newsroom and attacked journalists. Maximum penalty will be given as per existing law,” Gachchhadar said.

The delegation included Central Vice-chairperson Yasoda Timalsina, General Secretary Om Sharma, Secretary Jagat Nepal and Treasurer Shital Shah including central committee members—Bal Krishna Basnet, Dilip Thapa Magar and Deepak Pandey—of FNJ.
