Dozen youths killed in accidents abroad

PARBAT: A dozen youths from Parbat, who had gone seeking for greener pastures abroad, were killed in several accidents over the last one year. [break]



“These youths had gone for employment in foreign countries. Almost all of them were killed in road accidents” said Narayan Prasad Poudel, a non-gazetted first class officer at the District Administration Office. Of the dead, three were from Lankhudeurali and two each from Phalamkhani and Pipaltari VDCs.



The family of Bikash BK, of Bajung-9, who died in Saudi Arabia two months ago, is yet to receive his dead body. Eleven of the dead bodies have arrived in their respective villages and their families have received compensation. According to the DAO, a total of Rs 8.9 million was provided to families of the dead by the companies where they worked. Family of Ram Prasad Poudel, of Pipaltari VDC, received the highest compensation of Rs 3.825 million. Likewise, family of Dhanbahadur of Lankhudeurali-2 had received around Rs 3.5 million in compensation from a Qatar-based company.



However, Jit Bahadur Darji of Lankhudeurali-8, who had died in Saudi Arabia, had received a meager Rs 19370.
