Don't delay consensus: PM to parties

KATHMANDU, Sept 23: Prime Minister Baburam Bhattarai has said that the political parties should delay consensus on contentious issues in constitution writing.



Addressing a function organized at the Office of Attorney General in the capital on Sunday, Bhattarai stated that national unity and republican system cannot be institutionalized without the new constitution. [break]



 He said that the previous constitutions were rejected as they could not address the needs of the people.



Stating that the government is doing its best to resume the stalled talks on constitution writing, he stressed on the need to hold extensive debate over whether to revive the dissolved Constituent Assembly (CA) or conduct fresh polls.



He claimed that the government announced fresh polls in the line with the Supreme Court verdict.
