Domination of ‘foreign lords’

DANG, May 10: Lilbahadur Gharti, pastor of Prashamsha Church in Lamahi, encountered a group of Christians at his home a few days ago. All of them were foreigners. They tried to enter his house forcefully. But Gharti stopped them. He had to use force to shoo them away.

“They were the wrong kind of people. In the name of Lord Jesus they were spreading terrorism and engaging in wrongful activities,” he said. “They actually wanted to take control of us. So, I had to force them away,” he added.

Just a few months ago, Gharti had thwarted a function being carried out in the name of the lord. He had gone there with some locals to avert it. “They were also unknown individuals and had organized the program at Narti village. It was some kind of training for others. As soon as I came to know about it I went there with my team,” he said. “They mislead the people. They tell people wrong things about the Bible. Such people only defame Christianity and Jesus”.

No matter how much the locals and  ‘real’ Christians like himself try to stop  people doing ‘unnecessary things’ in the name of God and luring people to Christianity in a wrong way, such ‘foreign lords’ are still dominant in Dang, according to Gharti.

He also refuted a charge that local churches are  doing wrong things in the name of Christianity and working in cahoots with  foreigners.

“It is true that the foreigners have a kind of influence here. But they are not people we get along with.

We are always at odds with them because we do not promote forceful conversion or anything like that,” he said.

Gharti also cited the case of Ganga Khadka of Lamahi, whom some people had tried to compel towards Christianity .

All highhanded activities going on in Dang in the name of  God and Christianity are being carried out by unscrupulous people who call themselves Christians, he noted.

Different types  are seen in Lamahi. And there is a conflict among them . All of them claim  to be  ‘true followers of the lord’.

A group  active in Dang is from Korea. They claim that ‘Angsanghuwa’, a Korean national, is the lord and  messenger of Christianity.

Then there are the local Christians who believe that  others are fakes.
