KATHMANDU, Aug 12: Rohan Adukiya, the son of absconding businessman Rakesh Adukiya, has been released from custody on Saturday after being apprehended by the Department of Immigration (DoI). Sources confirmed that Adukiya was released at around 11 AM on Saturday.
Adukiya was arrested from Tribhuvan International Airport on Friday, shortly after his arrival in Kathmandu aboard an Air Indigo flight from Delhi. The move came after the Department of Revenue Investigation raised concerns and sought to blacklist Adukiya over potential ties to a case involving approximately 100 kg of gold.
Subsequently, the DoI acted upon the Department of Revenue Investigation's request and placed Adukiya on the blacklist.
However, the situation took a turn when the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) declined to assume custody of Adukiya, citing the ongoing gold case investigation. Police authorities have expressed the view that his arrest is unnecessary at this juncture.
Subsequently, the DoI made the decision to release Rohan. He has been released with the stipulation that he must cooperate and appear before immigration authorities whenever summoned.
