In the qualifiers held on Monday, Diwana overcame Lalita Maharjan of Army B while Menu edged past Mala Rai of Armed Police Force (APF) A. Women's 57-60 kg final will see APF and Army pugilists exchanging punches. Saraswati Chaudhary of APF A edged past Maya Chaudhary of the same departmental team while Niru Gurung of Army A floored Sulav Magar of Jhapa.
Pramila Pandey of APF A and Sangita Sunar of APF B will vie in the final for a SAG place in women's 69-75 kg category. Pramila edged past Pabitra Gharti Magar of Rolpa while Sangita beat Anuradha Lama of Police A during the semifinals.
In the men's event, Tej Bahadur Deuba of Army A and Ganesh Bohara of Bajura secured places for a final showdown in 49 kg section. Tej overcame Madan Krishna Dangol of Naxal B and Ganesh Bohala saw off Sushil Thapa of Naxal A to inch closer to qualification.
In the 52 kg section, Prem Chaudhary of Army A beat Sulav Raj Tandukar of Dharan and Shakti Lama of Naxal A beat Subash BK of Army B during semifinals. Similarly, in the 56 kg section, Dinesh Shrestha of Police A beat Dinesh Chand of APF and Arjun Singh of Army A beat his own colleague Bimal Roka Magar of B team. Men's 60 kg section saw Dan Bahadur Darlami of Army A make to the final beating Kishor Sharma of Naxal A. Similarly, Bhupendra Thapa of Police A secured another spot for final after beating Puran Rai of APF A.
Deepak Shrestha of Army A and Nivash Tandukar of Naxal A will vie in the final of 64 kg section. Deepak saw off Yadav Thapa of Rupandehi and Nivas beat Suresh Nepali of Army B. Similarly, Bikash Lama of APF A and Umesh Rijal of Lalitpur A secured final places in men's 69 kg section. Bikash Lama floored Bishnu Prasad Ghale of Army A and Umesh eased past Tara Prasad Pun Magar of Rolpa.
Deepesh Lama of Army A and his colleague Mahendra KC of B team fixed a final meeting in 75 kg section. Dipesh beat Dilip Lama of APF A and Mahendra overcame Sushil Malashi of Kailali during their semifinal matches.
The finals of all events will be played Tuesday.
