Speaking at a talk program, the Maoist vice-chairman, who leads the hard-line camp in the Maoist party, said, “The current political deadlock will end only if a Maoists-led national unity government is formed.” He also claimed that people would spontaneously revolt if the constitution is not promulgated on May 28. “The Maoists will support the revolt,” he said.
He argued that as the largest political party in the Constituent Assembly, the Maoists should chair the High Level Political Mechanism (HLPM). Other political parties need not unnecessarily pick up a row over who would lead the HLPM, he said.
Baidya reiterated that the constitution-making and the integration and rehabilitation of the Maoists should go hand-in-hand.
