KATHMANDU, Sept 2: The Supreme Court (SC) on Friday stayed the government decision to dismiss K.B Limbu from the post of Managing Director of Nepal Airlines Corporation (NAC), saying that the government decision was not appropriate.

The government had relieved the then NAC Chairman Sugat Ratna Kanskar and MD Limbu of their duties, following a tussle between the NAC management and the government over their respective roles in running the national carrier in June. [break]

Following this, the cabinet appointed Manarup Shahi as the new executive chairman. The full bench of SC comprising justices Prem Sharma, Baidya Nath Upadhyaya, and Gyanendra Bahadur Karki stayed the government order.

The case reached the full bench after the division bench of SC was divided on the case. Newly-reinstated MD Limbu said, “I am ready to work with Chairman Shahi if he is working in favor of the corporation.” He said his first priority is to procure new aircraft for NAC.
