The meeting of the NC office-bearers held at the official residence of the Prime Minister, Baluwatar, drew the conclusion, saying the disgruntled parties did not show any interest for a dialogue.
It may be noted that the three major political parties had postponed the constitution writing process for two days for talks with disgruntled parties that are in agitation regarding the issue of delineation of federal units in the upcoming constitution.
On the occasion, NC Vice-president Ram Chandra Poudel said that the party reached to the conclusion that there was no alternative to forward constitution writing process after leaders of the Madhes-based political parties did not come for talks. "There is no alternative to issue new constitution in the country. Now, the process will move ahead."
People want promulgation of new constitution as soon as possible, he said and added that they would adopt flexibility for a consensus as well as they would also forward constitution writing process simultaneously.
Meanwhile, lawmakers from Tarai-Madhes region of the UCPN (Maoist) today met with Prime Minister Sushil Koirala and complained over suppression from the government in the ongoing agitation.
Similarly, Tharu representatives had urged PM Koirala to create environment conducive for talks.
After the meeting, Tharu leader Raj Kumar Lekhi told media persons that they could not hold talks with ruling parties in the status quo and that the agitation would continue. RSS
