KATHMANDU, Nov 13: The Election Commission today has reiterated to get the authority of declaring the election date and managing the officials for the election purpose. 


Chief Commissioner Dr Ayodhi Prasad Yadav, speaking at a meeting of the State Affairs Committee under the Legislature-Parliament today, said that the authorities should be with the commission to make the election fair and trustworthy.

The committee has begun discussions on the integrated bill 2073 BS related to the rights, responsibility of the commission, political parties, voters list among others as the laws require amendment. 


On the occasion, lawmakers stressed on holding three-tier elections to ease the process for the implementation of the constitution. 


Similarly, speaking at the meeting, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Home Affairs Bimalendra Nidhi assured that the government was preparing to hold three-tier elections in the stipulated time. 


He added that the bill was prepared after consulting with concerned parties and authority. 


In another context, Minister Nidhi said that the constitution should be amended for genuine reasons adding that it was a progressive document. RSS
