KATHMANDU, Sept 26: As Dashain and Tihar festivals draw nearer, most of the mobile phone companies are attracting consumers through various schemes, discounts and offers.


Distributors of leading smartphone brands are competing with each other to bring attractive offers for the Dashain festival. Lately, it has become a trend for customers to buy mobile phones during Dashain and Tihar as dealers provide discounts, cash backs, lucky draws, holiday tickets, and gifts, among others. Like in previous years, smartphone dealers are trying to capitalize on the festive season by launching various schemes.


Samsung has launched 'Samsung Aayo Khusi Chhayo' scheme that includes amazing price drops along with warranty programs not only on mobile phones. Samsung is one of the leading smartphone brands of the country.

Matrika Lamsal, a sales attendant at Samsung showroom in Kamaladi, said buyers get discount coupons as well as cash back offers on purchase of Samsung phones.


Chinese smartphone maker Huawei has also come up with special offers on its smartphones. Every day one lucky winner will get smart weight scale machine on purchase of Huawei phone, according to company. In addition to that, two lucky draw winners will get free trips of Indonesia and Thailand.


Roshan Neupane, marketing manager of Huawei, told Republica that the company is providing heavy discounts on selected models. "The most exciting thing is holiday packages for our customers," he added.


Oppo, another widely used smartphone brand in Nepal, has come up with 'Bada Dashain SMS Campaign' for this year's festive season. The company is also giving away free trips every week. 


According to the smartphone company, people can participate in the scheme by texting 'OPPO' and IMEI number of their smartphone to 33001 to get a chance to win free trips to Bali and Baku. "Each week, two lucky winners will be chosen via lucky draw to visit Bali or Baku," according to the company.


Meanwhile, Oppo has also lowered price of A5S smartphone to Rs 16,990 from Rs 17,990, and A5S with 3GB RAM to Rs 18,590 from Rs 19,990. 


Likewise, Xiaomi, another Chinese mobile company, has brought “Dashain with Mi” scheme. Under the scheme, the company is giving five special surprises to people buying its phones. The company is also organizing a new flash sale offers with huge discounts on selected models.


According to the company, customers can enjoy exciting offers on the purchase of latest Xiaomi smartphones including Redmi 7, Redmi Y3, Redmi Note 7, Mi A3, and Redmi 7A. Consumers get a flat Rs 2,000 cash discount on Redmi Note 7 (3GB+32GB). This means that the phone can be take home for Rs 19,999. Similarly, Xiaomi Mi A3 of 4GB/64GB and 6GB/128 variants are available for Rs 23,999 and Rs 27,999. While Redmi 7A (2GB/32GB) costs Rs 10,999, customers will get a flat Rs 1,000 discount on Redmi 7 of 2GB/16GB and 3GB/32GB variants, and Redmi Y3 of 3GB/32GB and (4GB/64GB) variants.
