KATHMANDU, Aug 15: Metropolitan Police on Friday night arrested the owners and staffers of discos operated on the premises Hotel Yak & Yeti, a five-star hotel in the capital, and of at least one disco and a bar at Thamel for violating the regulations by operating the discos and bars after midnight. According to the regulations, the entertainment businesses could only open till 12 pm.

Apart from Platinum and Insomnia discos inside Yak & Yeti hotel, police raided Fire Club, a disco, and a dance bar named Chahana in Thamel. At least 23 persons were arrested.

Police have adopted a new strategy of arresting the managerial persons for violation of the regulations. "Detaining the workers and dancers was not effective. We realized that the owners should be held to address the problem," a police officer said.
