KATHMANDU, March 18: It is estimated that around 650,000 individuals are with disabilities in Nepal, as per the census conducted in 2078 BS.
650,000 quake-affected people, farmers benefit from SFDB credit
According to the information released by the National Statistics Office on Sunday, there are 647,744 people with disabilities in Nepal, constituting 2.2 percent of the total population of 29,164,578. The highest prevalence of disability is observed in Gandaki Province, where 2.9 percent of the population is affected.
Disabilities are categorized into various types, including physical disabilities, low vision, blindness, deafness, hearing impairment, speech and voice disorders, mental health or psychosocial disabilities, intellectual disabilities, genetic disorders, autism, and multiple disabilities. Physical disabilities are more prevalent among men, while low vision issues are more commonly reported among women.
