KHOTANG, Aug 1: Mayor of Diktel Majhuwagadhi Municipality of Khotang claimed that 95 % of the projects conducted by the municipality in the Fiscal Year 2017/18 were successful.
Speaking at a press conference organized on Tuesday, Mayor Dip Narayan Rijal informed that 205 projects were conducted in the last fiscal year and 95 % of them were successfully accomplished. There are altogether 15 wards in the municipality. Reportedly, 142 projects were conducted with a budget less than Rs 500,000 while there were 36 projects with the budget between Rs 500,000 to Rs 100,000. Likewise, there were 27 projects which cost less than Rs 100,000, according to Mayor Rijal.
Progress of Diktel water project sluggish
It has been found that most of the budget was spent on road projects. Last fiscal year, 98.5 km long tracks were opened, 29.6 km road was widened and 24.5 km road was upgraded. Apart from that, the municipality has established a building for blood bank, prepared DPR of a shopping complex in Ratnapark of Diktel, set up drinking water facility in each local unit, among others.
Furthermore, the municipality has established monasteries, ponds, stairs, etc in various tourism sites to promote tourism. It has also established 65 trusts in Panchardobato of Buipa, 40 artificial ponds, six community buildings and slaughterhouse in Diktel. As most of the projects conducted in the Fiscal Year 2017/18, were low-budget projects, the municipality is planning to conduct large-scale projects in the current fiscal year.
According to Mayor Rijal, projects worth more than Rs 500,000 have been prioritized in the current fiscal year, as the low-budget projects are less effective.
