KHOTANG, July 1: Khotang District Hospital has brought digital x-ray service in operation for the first time. This is expected to make services in the hospital efficient. The hospital had only a manual x-ray machine earlier.
“It may sound like a small thing but it serves a great deal. With the replacement now patients won’t have to stand in a queue for hours to get an x-ray done,” said Rabin Kumar Phuyal, Acting Chief of the hospital. “Similarly, it would take a very long time to get the report. There are no hassles with the digital machine,” he added.
According to Kalyan Basnet, radiographer at the hospital, the digital machine is far better than a manual machine even for reading details of the x-ray. “We can zoom it as per the need and identify problems. We were deprived of such facilities earlier and that would affect treatment,” he said.
Basnet further informed that the new machine was purchased for Rs 1.6 million. The machine gives results within five minutes of taking x-ray of body parts.

Despite long demand of people to upgrade the hospital to 50-bed, it only has 15 beds now. According to Phuyal, a detailed project report has already been prepared to upgrade the hospital.
