Diet allowance for players increased

KATHMANDU, Oct 23: The supplementary diet allowance for the players training for the 11th South Asian Games has been increased to Rs 250 per day beginning Friday. The players were getting Rs 100 per day. [break]



The 11th South Asian Games will take place in Dhaka, Bangladesh from January 29 - 9 February



The National Sports Council (NSC) had promised to increase the allowance after the Dashain festival.


The NSC decision came following publication of related news in Republica and Nagarik dailies on Friday. A meeting of NSC officials, sports associations and chief coaches reached the deecision.



On Thursday, a delegation led by the Nepal National and International Players Association (NNIPA) had met Sports Minister Gopal Tiwari Nepali and NSC Member-Secretary Hari Babu Chaudhary demanding increase in the allowance.



Republica in its Friday edition had published a report entitled Gold medal at Rs 100!.
