KATHMANDU, Jan 17: The third Didibahini Cup National Women’s Volleyball Tournament is set to start from February 8 in Kushma, Parbat.
The tournament will be held during the 11th Gandaki Province Women’s Festival to be organized in Kushma to mark the 109th International Working Women’s Day (IWWD) and the eighth anniversary of Didibahini radio. The IWWD falls on March 8.
Holding press meet in Kathmandu on Tuesday, the president of organizing committee Kalpana Chapagain informed that the tournament will be held in league cum knockout format and will feature a total of six teams. If needed, the number of teams could be increased to eight, Chapagain added.
Didibahini volleyball in Kushma
The teams who are already confirmed are the departmental trio Tribhuvan Army Club, Nepal Police Club and Armed Police Force (APF) Club, including the host Didibahini Club, New Diamond Academy and a team from the Western Region.
The teams will be divided into two groups and the top two teams from each group will qualify for the semifinals of the tournament, which will run till February 17.
The winner of the tournament will take home a purse of Rs 200,000, while the runner-up will be rewarded with Rs 100,000.
Likewise, the third-placed team of the tournament will receive a cash prize of Rs 50,000.
The organizers further informed that the player of the tournament will be given Rs 10,000, while the best server, the best libero, the best setter, the best spiker, the best blocker and the best coach will each earn Rs 5,000.
