Dias back in Nepal but with a different role

KATHMANDU, Nov 30: Nepal´s former national cricket coach Roy Luke Dias was seen in a different role on Wednesday when he landed at the Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA).



He is here in Kathmandu as the coach of Oman cricket team which arrived in Nepal to participate in the upcoming ACC Twenty20 Cricket Tournament from December 3-11.[break]



“It is nice to be back home,” said the former Nepali cricket coach upon his arrival at the TIA. During his nine-year stay in Nepal, he used to say that Nepal is his second home after Sri Lanka. After landing in Nepal he reiterated the same thing.



When asked about the Oman team for the current tournament, coach Dias said that T20 is a different format of the game and the team´s target is to reach the semifinal. “We want to take a game at a time and want to win the matches.”



According to Dias, apart from Afghanistan, the other teams that are the favorites to reach the semifinals are Nepal, Oman, the UAE or Hong Kong. Commenting about the Nepali squad, Dias said that Nepal is a strong team in the tournament. “There are many young players in the Nepali squad which will help the team in fielding.”



Dias said that he has been coaching the Oman team for the last one month and they have trained in the turf wickets for a short period.
