More than 30 persons in Belapur ward number 7 and 8 have fallen ill according to Shumsher Bahadur Bista, a local. Assistant Health Worker (AHW) at the Belapur Sub Health Post Narendra Chaudhary is on home leave for the New Year and a rural health worker and a maternal-infant worker are manning the center.
The relative inexperience of the duo has forced the patients to go to Kalika Medical in Chwangad region of neighboring Baitadi district for treatment. “Dozens of patients are coming to us and we are treating them to the best of our ability,” the proprietor of Kalika Medical, Arjun Kunwar, said.
Senior AHW at the District Public Health Office, Dadeldhura Kabindra Bista said a team of health workers has already been sent along with medicine to the area on Sunday after news of diarrhea.
Last year also diarrhea spread in the district from Belapur and it required months to bring the disease under control. AHW of Gankhet has now been sent to Belapur in the absence of Chaudhary.
