KATHMANDU, Aug. 4: The Department of Hydrology and Meteorology (DHM) has forecast a significant rise in water levels in small rivers and streams across 30 districts of the country today.
The DHM has warned of a moderate risk of flash floods in small rivers and streams in Taplejung, Ilam, Jhapa, Dhankuta, Bhojpur, Morang, Sunsari, Sankhuwasabha, Solukhumbu, Udayapur, Dolakha, Sindhupalchok and Kavrepalanchok.

Likewise, water levels are also expected to rise in small rivers and streams in Kathmandu, Bhaktapur, Lalitpur, Nuwakot, Lamjung, Kaski, Myagdi, Baglung, Banke, Jajarkot, Rukum East, Rukum West, Surkhet, Darchula, Baitadi, Achham, Doti and surrounding districts.
People living along riverbanks and in low-lying areas have been urged to remain vigilant, regularly follow updated weather and flood advisories, and take necessary precautions.
The DHM's flood expert, Binod Parajuli, has also urged local governments and relevant agencies to continuously monitor water levels in nearby rivers, disseminate timely information to communities, and remain prepared to respond to any potential flood-related emergencies.
