Dhami defeated Irfan Ansari of Banke 21-14, 21-10 in the final. It was the first tournament Dhami has played in two and half months after suffering knee injury during the Second Pushpa Lal Memorial National Badminton Championship. He received Rs 30,000 and a trophy. [break]
Earlier, Dhami had defeated Santosh Khadka of Sunsari 21-7, 21-12 in the semifinal. Meanwhile, Far Western Regional Badminton Association President Govinda Suwar awarded Rs 11,000 to Dhami. Runner-up Ansari got Rs 20,000. Ansari had defeated Suman Limbu of APF in the semifinal. Limbu and Khadka bagged Rs 10,000 each.
In girls´ U-19 singles, Shrestha beat Shreya Pradhan of Bhojpur 21-8, 21-16 in the final. Shrestha received Rs 20,000 while Pradhan got Rs 15,000. Bronze medalists Ganga Bista and Niru Shrestha bagged Rs 8,000 each.
Riyaz Ansari of Banke won the title of boys´ U-15 singles as he edged past Nir Bikram Devkota of Kathmandu 21-15, 22-20 in the final. Ansari got Rs 15,000 while Devkota bagged Rs 10,000.
In girls´ U-15 singles, Megha Chand of Kanchanpur beat Rekha Bista of Kanchanpur 21-6, 21-11 in the final and bagged Rs 12,000. Bista received Rs 8,000.
National Sports Council Member Secretary Yuvaraj Lama, Nepal Badminton Association General Secretary Ramji Bahadur Shrestha and other officials gave away the prizes to the winners.
Meanwhile, special guest of the closing ceremony Mohan Bahadur Shahi, former badminton player, awarded Rs 5,000 each from his personal account to the emerging players Shraddha Pradan of Bhojpur and Puran Bhandari of Kanchanpur.
