Dhamala remanded to 5 more days in custody

KATHMANDU, Feb 17: The District Administration Office, Kathmandu, on Tuesday remanded journalist Rishi Dhamala in police custody for five more days. Dhamala, the president of Reporters’ Club is facing charges under arms and ammunition act.



Superintendent of Police Nawa Raj Silwal, chief of the Metropolitan Police Range Office, Kathmandu, said they would file case against Dhamala and three other arrested at the court within the next five days. On February 3, police had received 15-day remand against Dhamala from the DAO.

Police have alleged that Dhamala was linked with an armed outfit called Ranabir Sena. The group was involved in carrying out bomb blasts in Kathmandu and extorting from businessmen. Police say they will file case against the arrested for possessing illegal arms and ammunition.
