KATHMANDU, Nov 3: Local businesspersons in Patan, Lalitpur, are satisfied with the increase in Dhaka topi (i.e. traditional Nepali cap) sales during the Tihar festival.
Local trader Nahkul Silwal expressed satisfaction, stating that the business of Dhaka topis for Bhai Tika during Tihar is good this year as well.

He also mentioned that the price of the topis is much lower this year compared to last year. Traders stated that the topis have come to the market at affordable prices, making them accessible for the general public. He said that since the Dhaka topi is a symbol of pride for Nepal, its usage is also steadily rising.
In Nepal, Dhaka topis are widely used during festivals such as Dashain/Tihar, weddings, and other ceremonies. During Tihar, it is particularly customary for sisters to gift Dhaka topis to their brothers.
